Why We Love Being the Plumbing Experts in Johnstown, Ohio
Johnstown is located in Licking County. This Central Ohio village has a population of about 5,200. It is governed by a seven person village council, with Charles “Chip” Dutcher serving as mayor. The village is the home of William A. Ashbrook, an American businessman, newspaper publisher, and Democratic politician. In 1956, his son, John Ashbrook, won an election to the Ohio House, taking his dad’s old place in 1960 in the U.S. House as a Republican candidate. In the 1972 presidential election, Ashbrook ran against U.S. President Richard Nixon in several state primaries as an alternative conservative contender. For his military services, the Village of Johnstown is part of a four thousand-acre portion of land President Adams gave to John Brown, a revolutionary serviceperson in 1800. In 1810, Brown sold the parcel at a rate of $2.50 per acre to Oliver Bigelow. Dr. Bigelow is the one who laid out and incorporated the village of Johnstown. He donated the alleys, streets, and town square. In 1926, a farmer named James Bailey found an almost complete skeleton of a mastodon. He sold it to the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.
