Why We Love Being the Plumbing Experts in Blacklick, Ohio
Blacklick is located in the southern Jefferson Township, in the Columbus Metropolitan area. The city was established in 1852 by William A. Smith. At the time, the neighborhood originally had the name Smithville. However, because there was another town in Ohio with that same title, it was renamed “Black Lick” with two words because of the stream nearby with the same moniker, which comes from the Big Walnut Creek and runs through the area.
At first, historian W. Edson Richmond assumed that the Black Lick Creek got its title from a local landowner H. G. Black. However, Richmond later discovered Henry George Black had not been born until the year of 1817. They found an old map uncovered which suggested the river had that name going back all the way to at least the year 1806. Blacklick, historians say, was founded as a stop along the railroad line.
