Why We Love Being the Plumbing Experts in Gahanna, Ohio
Gahanna is rich in heritage and diversity. The Central Ohio city of 36,000 offers a friendly environment with many unique historical attractions. Gahanna also has many high-quality restaurants and accommodations, eclectic shopping destinations and expansive green space.
Gahanna was founded in 1849 along the Big Walnut Creek. The city started with 800 acres of land bought from then Ohio Governor Worthington in 1814. It is said that John Clark of Ross County established Gahanna. His father, Joseph Clark, was said to have been the one who purchased it from the governor. The city’s name is said to have come from the American Indian word for “three creeks joining into one,” and is the prior name of the Big Walnut Creek.
Originally, Gahanna’s Official City Seal refers back to this confluence of three creeks. The Gahanna Seal has the inscription “Three In One”. Historians say Gahanna sustained over time a feud with an adjacent village of Bridgeport. Bridgeport was said to have been established in 1853 by Jesse Baughman. Baughman was a former Franklin County Commissioner. Eventually, the two villages settled their differences and united into one municipality. When they did this, they assumed the name Gahanna because there was already another village in Ohio called Bridgeport.
