Why We Love Being the Plumbing Experts in Dublin, Ohio
Dublin is a long standing Ohio community that is probably best known for being the home of Jack Nicklaus’ Country Club at Muirfield Village. This is also the home of the PGA Memorial Golf Tournament, which has been held there each year since 1976. The city has a population of around 48,000 today.
Although Dublin’s earliest settlements date back to the year 1802, the village that eventually became Dublin did not start taking shape until the arrival of the Sells family, who came from Huntingdon, Pa. The Sells bought 400 acres of land on the west bank of the Scioto River and in 1810 one of the Sells brothers started surveying lots for the new village with his partner, a man named John Shields. Historians say Shields, who was Irish, is responsible for calling the town Dublin after his birthplace in Dublin, Ireland.
By 1833, Dublin had several mills and a single store. All the way up to 1970, Dublin was said to have remained a small town with only about 681 residents. However, the construction of an outer belt surrounding Columbus (i.e. Interstate 270), caused the population to increase rapidly.
